Today for my free post I will be talking about my ethnicities. I have exactly 4 ethnicities. I will be talking about what culture it is and if I get it from my mom or dad. My first ethnicity is Okinawan. I get Okinawan from my mom’s side of the family. Her mom my grandma, is from Okinawa. She first moved to O’ahu in 1971 when she was thirteen and later met my grandpa. Okinawan is similar to Japanese and is often just referred to as Japanese. Many foods here in Hawaii is of Okinawan origin. The next ethnicity is Japanese. I also get this from my mom’s side. Her dad my grandpa is Japanese. My Great great grandpa, my grandpa’s grandpa was born Yamaguchi Prefecture Japan. He was adopted by his cousins the Nakamuras adopted him. That’s why my last name is Nakamura. His original last name was Ueda.
The next two ethnicities I get from my dad. The first is Portuguese. My dad’s dad is Portuguese. The other is Hawaiin. I am around 85% Asian, 16% Portuguese and 4% Hawaiin. Most of my cousins on my mom’s side live in Okinawa or in Japan. From my dad’s side, my cousins live on O’ahu. That is all four of my ethnicities and where I get it from. I hope you enjoyed my post!
