My country

I will be talking about the country I live in, America. America is one of the most well-known countries. The population in America is about 328,348,166. Some famous landmarks in America are the statue of liberty, Yellow stone national park, and Mount Rushmore. The capital of the United States of America is Washington D.C. America’s current president is Donald Trump. Every 4 years a new president is elected but, if the president runs again he might win. After 8 years of being president, you are not able to run again.

The flag of the United States of America is called “Old Glory” or more commonly known as “The star spangled banner”. On the top-left of the flag, there are 50 stars each representing a state. Surrounded by it there are 13 stripes. The most common language in America is English followed by Spanish.

My first Kendo Tournament!

Today I will be talking about my first Kendo tournament. The tournament was hosted by Kenshikan Kendo club and the same dojo my friend Vincent trains at. I arrived at 8:30 Am and waited for my sensei to arrive. Then when he arrived with the rest of the people from my dojo that entered in the tournament we found a spot to put all of our equipment down and we did some stretches. Around 9:00 we all went to the front of the gym and we had a Shinto blessing before the start of the tournament.

When the tournament started the novice division started first and demonstrated techniques than we had the young kids division. That division had a name but I forgot what it was. The division I was in was called the Shonenbu which has kids from 12 to 14 years old. I was the first person in my division to fight a shiai. My opponent was Zachary from Seibu kan dojo. I ended up losing the match because my opponent was really good. The last match I fought in was the team match. I was the second fighter on my team which is called a Jiho. But what made it difficult was my opponent was an adult. I almost got a good strike on him but he evaded and hit me. My Sensei was able to draw the last match but our dojo still lost. I really liked the experience and will surely enter the next tournament.

Music!

The instrument I will be talking about is the Accordion. The Accordion is a block-shaped musical instrument belonging to the keyboard family and was invented in the early 1900s somewhere in Europe.  On one side of the Accordion, there are buttons or keys depending on the type, and on the other side, there are buttons that control the way air goes through the reeds. In the middle of the Accordion, there are the bellows. Bellows are made from either cloth or paper depending on the craftsmanship.

The other thing I will be talking about is a famous music artist. I decided to pick the famous song composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart was born January 27, Salzburg, Austria and died December 5, Vienna, Austria. Mozart is often considered as one of the best composers of western music along with Hayden and Beethoven. In Mozarts lifetime he wrote 7 operas and many famous songs.
